"Beautiful addition to the patio" 2009-08-07
By L. L. McKenna (Aurora, IL, USA)
This item exceed my expectations.

Had been looking for something to use near the barbeque as a prep table that looked nice and was a workable height

This piece is well made and durable. Was able to assemble in under 30 minutes.

Very heavy - the Fedex guy carried to my garage and he struggled with it. Don't you love it when people help you without being asked!

"Kapur, an endangered rainforest species" 2009-08-03
By California Tex
I have just learned that kapur is the trade name for a group of woods of the genus Dryobalanops, several species of which are on the IUCN red list and are considered either endangered or critically endangered. Most of the wood is logged from old-growth rainforests, mostly illegally.

 "OK for the price" 2008-08-15
By J. S. Farrell (Scotch Plains, NJ)
This product is OK for the price, but not the greatest product. It is rather difficult to put together - lots of allen wrench work and you'll need another set of hands at various times. Also, I read previous reviews about the stain running off it from the rain, so I washed it down before putting it on the patio - it still stained the patio - ALOT! Leave it somewhere for multiple rain storms before placing it on your patio or deck! With that said, it's a good size and pretty sturdy.

 "POTTING BENCH A PLEASURE" 2008-08-13
By Janice Boike (UPSTATE NY)
I was concerned after reading reviews, but pleasantly surprised when the big flat box "some assembly required" arrived, checked out the instructions & once acclamated to them, yes a challenge, put it together. I then polyurethaned it because it goes on my deck, under the eaves. Hopefully that will help with stain/water problems others reported.

The price was very right at $53 even with high shipping fee it was $100 to $200 less than others I researched.

It is beautiful - and although I disdain buying any products from Communist China, buying products from Viet Nam is no problem.

 "Potting Bench" 2008-08-07
By Karen Papetti (Atlanta, GA)
The potting bench was big time discounted and I thought it must be a piece of junk but I ordered it anyway. What a beauty!!! I could not be happier:)

Downside: Be prepared to put it together as only four pictures serve as your directions:( I don't have an engineering degree, but it would have been useful.

From Austin With Soul

On his fourth recording, W.C. Clark, a revered figure in Austin roots music, successfully mixes elements of blues, R&B, and soul. The 62-year-old sings original songs and time-honored material (from Bobby Bland and Clarence Carter, among others) so movingly, it's obvious he acutely understands heartache and the value of perseverance. As a guitarist, Clark again displays a strong and personalized style that reflects the influence of B.B. King, T-Bone Walker, and Charlie Christian. The album hits its highest peaks when the Texan "washes away the misery" of "Let It Rain" and when his delight bursts all over "Got to Find a Lover." Aided by a squad of dependable Lone Star musicians that includes four horns, Clark projects mounting drama with typical ease everywhere else, too. --Frank-John Hadley

"A SOUL/BLUES MAN YA JUST GOTTA HEAR!" 2002-09-08
By Patrick Earley (Edmond, Oklahoma USA)
When it comes to soul, it doesn't get much better than this Austin, Tx. native and international legend. I guess 40 years of experience has finally paid off with Alligator Records having the good taste to sign Clark. This new album is a great start for Clark to get even wider exposure, because this cd has got some amazing soul-stirring blues that need to be heard. The kind that should appeal to the masses. Clark went out and hired some of the best Texas boys and girls he could find to back him up here. Try Pat Boyack and Derek O'Brien on guitars, along with Riley Osborne and Marcia Ball on keyboards and vocals. And the Texas horns starring Mark Kaz Kazanoff for good measure. These kind of outstanding artists are simply not capable of making a bad blues record. And it looks like Alligator spared no expense in hiring the best. In the end though, it's the songs that count. This set contains some of the best material of Clark's career. All you have to do is go down to track 2 with "Midnight Hour Blues". This is a rocking great song that comes right out of the old Chess Records songbook and features Pat Boyack backing Clark on guitar. Go down to track 4 with Don't Mess Up A Good Thing, a great jumping shuffle that features the excellent Marcia Ball on piano and a kind of Ike 'n' Tina vocal exchange between Ball and Clark. You also get a very good reading of the old Bobby Bland song "Got Me Where You Want Me". And a great straight up blues number "Let It Rain" with Derek O'Brien on rhythm guitar, and diplays Clark as not only an excellent vocalist, but also a real blues guitar master. But the highlight for me here is the soul burner "How Long Is A Heartache Suppose To Last". Wow! This song is simply outstanding. Clark pulls out all the stops on this powerful and very emotional song that utilizes the Texas horns to great effect, and also some very strong pounding of the keys. This is a slow tune that builds up to a kind of Otis Redding Try A Little Tenderness type frenzy of an ending. It just doesn't get any better than this one. It's my favorite blues song of the year. This, along with many of these other tunes stay in your head long after you hear them. This cd is a winner, and quite possibly a candidate to win Clark his second W.C. Handy Award for best blues album of the year. It's that good folks. Jump on this one!

"A great live performer as well" 2002-07-08
By
I had the pleasure of seeing W.C. live last night. Not only is 'From Austin With Soul' an excellent studio album, Mr. Clark is an excellent live performer as well. The concert was very high energy! I really enjoyed a cover of "Funny how time slips away" from an earlier album, but I agree with the Amazon reviewer--"Let it rain" takes the cake.

"Can't get songs out of my head" 2002-06-18
By Theocacao (Fayetteville, AR)
W.C.'s lyrics and style stick with me in my head all day long. I find myself hearing the songs long after I have turned off the player. They speak to the heart and soul. This is definitely a CD worth having!

"Pretty much a good belt" 2007-01-19
By M. Slimmer
The CLC published features pretty much speak for themselves. The handles, the durability, all that. What stands out for me with this belt is the construction. It appears durable, the rivets are solid and the material bomber. The belt itself is comfortable, well padded and breathable. But this is where my first gripe arises. I'm a 32" waist and this belt has a hard time going that small (and I'll wager there are smaller dudes out there than I). The 'hook and loop' adjuster thing is super convenient for positioning, but in the small setting it gets all bunched and in the way.

One other gripe is the with the handles. They are awesome for lugging this bad boy around, especially when the spacious pockets are full of hardware. They fold down and out of the way during wear but occaisionally they flop up and block access to say... your tape. I could cut them off, but I haven't and that should be an indication of how infrequently they are a problem.

Overall this is a good belt if you want to slog around a lot of stuff. Its probably best for larger dudes, but I like it and I'm in the sub 6' crowd.

 "Modern AOR Classic" 2007-06-10
By Stuart M. Tysinger (Johnson City, TN)
That's The Way by Michael Morales is a modern day AOR classic. Released in 1999 this CD blew me away. He goes for a Def Leppard type sound with strong songs, excellent musicianship and top notch production. If you love AOR music you have to have this CD. It is also getting hard to find and the price is skyrocketing. Do not miss out. Stand out songs are Change The World, Where Does Love Live?, Maria and No Way Out.

 "laser pole" 2003-02-11
By Michael F. Steakley (Ringgold, GA)
The pole seems to be OK to me, but it does not fit the laser RT-7690-2. It would have been nice to know this before I purchased it.

 "Mine works!" 2003-01-18
By David Grimm (Fort Worth, Texas USA)
I purchased my pole on clearance from a major home center store. Only then did I read the reviews here and experienced some concern. When I finally used the pole in a bath remodel, I experienced no problems and I thought the pole worked well for me. My expectations might have been tempered by the poor reviews I read here, but it worked fine for me, at least on that one job.

"Shipped to me in used condition" 2002-09-12
By (Pittsford, NY United States)
Not happy this was sent to me in used condition, hope you have better luck.

 "flimsy" 2002-08-01
By Warren C. Jones (Swansea, MA United States)
There is way to much sway in the pole. The sections do not join together tight enough to eliminte this problem- to much plastic needs metal connections for a more solid feel.

 "Great Product!" 2002-06-11
By Tanner Johnson (River Falls, WI)
I have had very good luck with this laser pole. It works great when installing suspended ceilings up to 12 feet high. It also works great for hanging cupboards. A good value for the money.

 "Comfortable!" 2007-09-14
By K. A. Byars (Payson, Ut)
I bought a black pair of these shorts, and a turquiose pair. Both are darling in fit and color. They also fit very well--and I have been comfortable working out it them. (However, I actually have yet to sleep in them.) I accidently put them in the dryer on high--so they did shrink a little. So--when I work out, they ride high a bit--but I think thats my fault for putting them in the dryer! Oops!

 "Experience and Ease" 2009-07-08
By J. Kara Russell (Hollywood - the cinderblock Industrial cubicle)
As a harpist, I was given this CD as a gift by my Uncle, who has worked with these musicians. These two harpists have a breathtaking array of experience separately and together, and they play together as if they were one. If you are not familiar with harp music, this CD is wonderful introduction, presenting a varied crosssection of harp music from early to modern, all performed with great precision and ease. My personal favorites are harpsichord music played on the harp, and the Rameau and other Bach pieces are favorites for me. Others will be thrilled and surprised by the power and unusual "hammer" and "booming" techniques in the modern pieces. Having a small and growing library of harp CDs, this is one I reach for over and over. Thank you for the gift, Uncle Bob!

 "Superb" 2006-11-14
By David M. Ice (Glendale, AZ USA)
Carlos Salzedo's music is difficult, no VERY difficult (and I'm a harpist, so I know these things!) and the Salzedo Harp Duo play them as effortlessly as water falling off a leaf. Inspired musicality and daredevil tempos make this a "must have" and even if you're not a harpist, it's absolutely lovely music. And "Rhumba" will have you dancing!

"Delightful music for harp duo..." 2005-03-08
By Montana DJ (MISSOULA, MT United States)
This is an irresistible collection of beautiful melodies arranged (or composed) for harp duo. Nancy Lendrum & Jody Guinn are masters of their instruments, and lend an energy and flourish to this delightful assortment of music by Carlos Salzedo and other assorted classical composers. The arrangements are crisp and the playing is brilliant! There isn't a dull moment or 'lackluster' piece on this cd. This music would be ideal accompaniment to any activity from a "dinner party for 8" to a Sunday afternoon relaxing with a good book...highly recommended!!
