GlaxoSmithKline (who merged with the originator of the product) sold the Oxy branding to Mentholatum at the end of 2005, but it appears not the formulations themselves. I guess Mentholatum thought no one would notice if they just tried to pawn off some useless junk under that same name. The new-old-stock Oxy took about a year or two to get replaced on the shelves with this. After complaining to the company, all I got was a form letter and worthless coupons for more Mentholatum junk. The company was quiet about the facts, but some minor investigative work produced an explaination.

Off the Record

Product Description

European only four track single, lifted from their 2005 album, Z. The Radio Edit of the title track is b/w the non-album tracks, 'Chills' (previously released as a bonus track to the US Vinyl pressing of Z) and 'How Could I Know' along with the Album Version of the title track. ATO Records. 2005.

I think I have had enough of My Morning Jacket. They are good but, the releases become a bit repetitious after a time.


My Morning Jacket's "Z" album is one of 2005's very best, and this single from it is in my opinion the best CD single of the year.

"Off the Record" (4 tracks, 19 min.) presents 2 versions of "Off the Record": the single version literally chops off the last 2 min. of the album track (which is the closing track here). Needless to say, I encourage you to skip the single version, and instead enjoy what I think is one of the very best songs of the year, and the 2 min. outro is not to be missed. (But hey, no mention/credit to the "Hawai Five-O" musical theme for that guitar riff?!?). The 2 middle tracks are both non-album tracks, and just terrific. "How Could I Know" finds MMJ in their more rustic ballad style, while "Chills" is a more upbeat track, also quite nice. In the end, though, "Off the Record" is what this is about, and a super song from beginning to end.

If you have an opportunity to catch MMJ in concert, don't miss them! They are one of the best live acts currently out there, no question. And in concert, "Off the Record" becomes a monster 10+ min. jam-out, just terrific.

It took me about three listens to "get" this one, his last one grabbed me from the get-go, but this is a different deal. More stark, but more soulful too. A continued distillation of the themes Archer has pursued from the Coctails days till today. Where his debut album had a heady slightly euphoric 60's flavor, this moves into the more confusing terrain of the 70's. Archer struts his guitar-god status on Motorcycles, almost all of the songs have seasonal references; Summer's End, Final Season, Last Summer Days, and the themes of time passing are explored throughout. Shake is like Folk Implosion meets Burt Bacharach writing a song for, say, the Chi-Lites. And it works in a warm pre-discodelic soul-poppin' kinda way. While on tracks like I'll Be Waiting and Last Summer Days the spirit of Nick Drake is invoked. The eight minute Walking on the Farm is reminicent of Neil Young in his lost lonely endless rural highway way, but articulated like Richard Davies or Eric Matthews into some wailing noir moment of epiphany.


I bought this album in a record store in Greenwhich Village in late October - it perfectly captures that quiet time when the sun is falling and the shadows of city buildings begin to grow longer.... Archer Prewitt puts together songs almost as beautiful as Nick Drake's, but written with a more mature, complex sensibility and delivered with a little more flair. HIs songs aren't anything like the Sea & Cake, at least not superficially; but they tap into the same cool, intricate, sweetly melancholy groove that band sustains on records like "The Biz." White Sky in particular is all about feeling young but older than your years - something the Sea & Cake seems all about too.<p>A great record - beautiful headphones music for the end of a good day.


As a big fan of Jim O Rourke, Tortoise, Sea & Cake, & Sam Prekop, I could not wait to here this solo artists work.What a dissapointment. There is absolutely no similiarity with this music and the smooth, avant garde sound in which I have become a big fan. This album is so disjointed, its unbearable. I wrote this so fans would be aware that this is different stuff than I would expect from any Sea & Cake members. Be warned!


...full of light and warmth and space and the sort of blues which are not the blues per se, not of the hellhound-on-my-trail sort anyway, more like what Motown and Stax did with the blues... It's a lazy, Sunday sort of record, near to those Sundays when you don't have a lover and you're not particularly feeling the lack of one and you're not particularly hungover, if at all, and it's Sunday anyway, lost in the big city you're not quite ready to call home yet, so what do you do? You go for a walk, a la Robert Walser, and the walk proceeds something like Robert Walser narrating one of his own Sunday walks, the world streams by you, the cars and the basketball courts and the hanging laundry and the impeccable old ladies coming home from church with their starched grandchildren... that's what this feels like to me. No histrionics. No ambiguous but overwhelming pain looking hither-thither for a cause or an oppressor. Just life inside the head, and the head with its two eyes, and the eyes seeing what they see and moving on down the street in a funky, unhurried, mildly introspective groove that is exactly what it is. In that sense, it's a perfectly logical extension of Prewitt's songs in the latterday Coctails -- even when it gets serious, it never gets all that serious. It never gets serious with a hidden agenda. It just moves on down the easily naviagted, slightly seedy streets of it's own spring Sunday... Mature, I'd say: not cliche-wise, but mature in terms of the vantagepoint from which the songs come. Which is a fine, rich surprise in light of all the 1970s-ish arrangements -- if only the 70s themselves could have had such subtle objectivity.


A. Prewitt is riddle wrapped in bacon and speared by a toothpick. "Last Summer Days" is sublime. "Raise on High" is a masterpiece. "Final Season" moves. "Shakes' rolls.

Nude Housewives of America 1 [VHS]

This movie is rather for nudists: housewives perform their daily chores in the nude (certainly a marvelous idea), but without any erotic. It is like `normality', no play, no attitude. The one girl pictured on the cover is the only highlight. She is rather cute in her ways (though immature) and she is the only one who wears really high heels. The rest of the tape did not get me off. I rather prefer the other two tapes from the series Nude Housewives of America: California Homemakers, especially volume two.


The women are very nice looking, but the videographer misses most of the good shots. This video shows the women mostly doing housework. There is only one or two pussy shots.

I needed some new socks for work and got about four pairs of these (2 black 2 blue). My boyfriend liked them as well and took the 2 blue. Both of us agree that the sock was comfortable to wear (I wore them to work, he wears them on a night out) they keep feet cool and dry and your feet didnt feel like they were squashed into the shoe. The only "issue" we have with them is that they come very high up the leg - right up under the knee and the elastic is a bit tight there so a bit uncomfortable in that region after a while.
