Here it is! These are directly taken from those famous old best selling 78's and nothing much has been done to them in the way of "sweetening." The tinny frequency response takes some getting used to, and so does the content of some of the material. You have to think of it as a sort of time machine taking you back to those times. I hadn't realized what great pickers these guys were until I listened to these. It makes a great companion to the Rounder release in which they re-recorded some of their favorites. The Blue Sky Boys had a sound that influenced many, particularly Bill and Charlie Monroe. Their careers faded when honky tonk music came up. It was just not the sort of music they were comfortable playing. Simple country gospel was more to their taste.

A great mixture of light and dark, religious and secular giving an excellent cross-section of the Blue Sky Boys recorded output including tracks not currently available elsewhere.

A classic collection worth the purchase price for "Mary of the Wild Moor".

Very traditional and exceptionally well done by two great exponents of the genre.

The Jonbenet features Dann Miller on the guitar of might, Mike Murland spitting game, Drew Ireland on drums of destruction, and Wil Spent on bass of conception. Put all their powers together, and they form a 4 some that will rival the likes of Blood Brothers, The Bled, or Fear Before of March of Flames. They've played so far with two of the three in suburban Houston, where their powers combine like Captain Planet(also where they reside). They have even been featured in one of the latest editions of Alternative Press. Here's what Pluto records has to say about the band...



The Jonbenét began in the sweltering Houston summer of 2003. The band released their first demo later that year, and following a lineup change, proceeded to release two self-released EPs in the summer of 2004 ("Five Stories Retold") and again in early 2005 (a split with The Kidnap Soundtrack). During all this time, the Jonbenét hit the road hard, traveling across the US and into Canada, building their fan base solely based on punk rock ethics and incredible word of mouth.



The band soon found support from Pluto Records, and plan to release "The Plot Thickens" in July. The 8-song release is a discography of sorts, combining remastered versions of both self-released EPs recorded in the past year.



The music of the Jonbenét consists of a blend of indie stylings, metallic urgencies, and a post-hardcore sense of delivery. Appealing to a vast array of listeners, they have comfortably shared the stage with a variety of bands such as The Red Chord, A Life Once Lost, Murder By Death, The Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower, Breather Resist, Dead To Fall, Codeseven, Evergreen Terrace, Fear Before The March Of Flames, and many more.

If you like a good story, its not for you. If you like movie's where things happen, its not for you. I was confused from the beginning to the end. This is a very unusual dessert tea. It's bitter but in a way that professional bakers would enjoy. (I'm not much of a baker, so I add sweetener.) It smells like biscotti but with the addition of brown sugar, tastes more like almond cookies. I've tried it with honey and white sugar, as well. Brown sugar is the one that makes this cup of tea for me, and then there is no need for the extra calories or carbs from actual cookies.

This CD has John's Hits along with 5 "new songs" from his first 3 CDs with Capitol Records: John Berry (self-titled CD), Standing on the Edge, and Faces.

Capitol Records did not do 'much' for John while he was under contract with them, but this *Certified Hits* CD includes great ballads ("Destiny", "Faithfully", and "I Never Lost You") that are so identifiable with John's musical style; these SHOULD have released because they WOULD have become #1 hits! Bill Kennedy did an excellent job of producing this CD. The jacket states that 'John Berry's soaring tenor, nearly operatic in its power and timbre, flat-out knocks listeners to their knees. As a result, Berry can claim a string of hits that include huge ballads and sly toe-tappers.'

SO TRUE and I can't add any more accolades to this CD!

Schubbs look a little odd as far as capos go. But actually, they are a mechanical phenomenon and made so well. When I bought my first Schubb (this brass one) back in 1985, I knew it was not the cheapest one on the market but just looking at it made a lot of sense to me and it looked SOOOOO durable. I was sold.



I still have my Schubb brass capo and it functions beautifully across many of my dreadnought guitars. I've never changed the rubber piece (even though I think they exist) because I have not had to. The brass is tarnished these days but the capo is beautifully functional and does it's job without any extra buzz of sound artifacts. I've used Schubbs for 6 and 12-string guitars and highly recommend them.\



Pros:



- made of quality materials and lasts a long time.

- replacable rubber option (if you need to)

- comes in many types and finishes (nickel, stainless, 12-string, classical, 6-string, etc).





Cons:



- Takes a little getting used to (the adjustment screw).

- not a particularly quick capo to change (there are faster ones on the market these days).



Schubb is definitely a classic and if you love them, you really love them and stick by the design and believe in it. There are cheaper and more expensive capos on the market. For the money, this one is worth it. A design marvel.

Excellent capo. The guitar doesn't go out of tune when putting on the capo and low profile doesn't get in the way. When using my Kyser capos my left hand would bump into the big handle and I was having to re-tune the guitar after I put it on. I use several partial Kyser capos and now I'll probably switch to all Shubbs.
