Darker

I have just listened to it twice but I must say this is a great electronic work; I must confess I love De Meyer's voice, his voice is unique and does not need distortion 'cos it's naturally deep but beautiful; I don't like Cubanate but this work is impressive; The songs here are totally electronic, musically similar to Haujobb or Front Line Assembly but it's the voice which stands it out from the rest. These songs are never monotonous even when they're repetitive and long, and they are growing on me with each listening. It is not exactly similar to Cobalt 60, though it's same as good; I have also listened to C-Tec's following work, 'Cut', and it is as good as this one; they try to be coherent but with a wide range of rhythms and they achieve it; 'Silent Voices' is a good example; This work makes me imagine how a collaboration between Bill Leeb with his machines and De Meyer with his voice woorl be; for me, this 'Darker' is the most similar to that utopia; It is brilliant, really.

the first time i heard "darker", i was entranced. time went on, i listened to it more, and i just came to love it with that much more passion. then i got their new album, "cut." and it's (if one can believe it) even better. the two SHOULD be listened to in that order, though; darker, then cut. so get darker now. listen to it for a while. love it. by then, cut should be released domestically. :)

First I have to thank a friend for telling me that Cyber-Tec is now C-tec. I thougt it was a one off, but here is "Darker". Brooding, yet aurally stimulating. This album definitely shows the depths that Jean-Luc contains to reveal to the world his passion in the industrial music scene. It has a timeless (in an industrial music sense) vibe, sounds new, yet sounds old. Awesome sound that will tickle you to the roots of your hair.

I'm a huge Front 242 fan, and so when I saw "Darker" I had to own it. This album is really gritty, old-school industrial (if that term even means anything). Thumping hypnotic drum beats (really really crazy ones at that) coupled with perfect lyrics--it's Jean-Luc DeMeyer at his personal best in my opinion. It has a very murky undertone to it, and every song fits in perfectly. A great album.

Strobe! Sweat! Action! Bodies! This must be the definitive anthem for the night: "Flowing". If you don't have it, GET IT NOW. Unfortunately the rest of this album is close to BS. 6 stars for "Flowing", 2 for the rest.

It took me a while to decide to buy this disc. A friend of mine bought it and the only song I really heard from it was "Foetal," which just rocked. However, I wasn't sure I wanted to pay for just one song. After I decided to go ahead and get it, however, I was soooo glad I did. It has a definite dark quality to it (which I love), and is very well though out lyrically. "Flowing" and "The Lost" are probably my two favorites, along with "Epitaph," which is actually a poem by Dorothy Parker put to music, and done very well (and tastefully, I might add). "Flowing" is a definite trip, and does just what the title suggests: it flows quite nicely, and totally rocks as well. "The Lost" is a nice song to just sit back, relax, and attempt to lose yourself in (which isn't too difficult for me). And of course, "Foetal," the song I wound up buying the disc for, delivers the overall message of the entire genre of industrial music: "We're on the way to being gods." Excellent disc, buy it now. 5 out of 5.

Very cool industrial album with favorite band members from Cubanate and Front 242. Tracks 2 & 3 rock, some of the others are just droning noise, but it is spiced up with some ambient slower tunes . A good purchase, mostly for die hard fans of this genre, like me!
